In 1990 Kilbride travelled from London to Cape Town over seven months and through 18 countries. He settled in Cape Town and in 1992 founded Appleton a company he listed in 1999 and then sold his stake a year later.
In 1994, four years after arriving in SA from the UK Kilbride, along with educationalist Tessa Smit, created The KIDS Foundation. The foundation has now grown to be locally and internationally respected and supported. It pays for the education of scholars from disadvantaged backgrounds and it is clear when talking to Kilbride that this is one of his proudest acheivement's to date.
He has been a leading figure in Private Client Asset Management for 15 years and set new standards in client service for private clients through his original company APPLETON and this continues at WARWICK where he is CEO and Chairman. Warwick Private Wealth Management is a national private banking services company and one of the fastest growing private client businesses in South Africa.
